August Favorites

This summer has come + gone. And I have to say that it was a really good one. I’ve been lucky enough to cross off a lot on my Summer 2023 list. We went camping, we swam in the lake, gone to a few Red Rocks concerts, saw Taylor Swift in concert, drank on rooftop bars, the works! So my heart is feeling very full + content. But it’s already September which is just insanity. 2023 is more than halfway over. It’s going to take a while for me to wrap my head around that.

But with the start of a new month, I thought it would be fun to do a monthly favorites, which I’ve never done but I thought could be fun + interesting. I always love reading what other people are loving so figured I would give it a go! I'm going to break it down into 4 categories: Beauty, Fashion, Home & Pop Culture i.e. movies, music, tv shows, podcasts I’ve enjoyed.

So without further ado, lets see what we loved in July!

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation

I’ve really been loving this foundation because of how LIGHT + BREATHABLE it is on the skin, yet still feels like I have good coverage. It’s also sweat + transfer resistant so that gives it a summer stamp of approval in my book. Skin-loving ingredients include Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E, Moringa Seed Extracts and Prebiotics.

e.l.f. cosmetics Power Grip Primer

Alright, I was seeing this all over my TikTok earlier in the year + I finally found it at Target so I picked it up. And ok, I understand the hype now. This stuff is like GOLD. I try to use very little because I’m so scared I’ll run out + it’ll be sold out! It honestly just keeps your makeup in place ALL DAY LONG. I definitely notice a difference when I don’t use it compare to the days that I do so if you find it at your local Target or Ulta, GET IT.

L'Oréal Professionnel Absolut Repair Protein Treatment Hair Mask

My good friend, Olivia, who is also my hairdresser, spoke highly of this hair mask, + I understand why. Despite it being a hair mask, I actually use this as my conditioner since I only wash my hair 3 times a week + a little goes a long way. You only need a pea size amount because of how thick it is. It’s extremely hydrating, adds softness + shine to my hair that I now can’t live without.

Hourglass Airbrush concealer

The thing about concealers that I HATE is that they always dry up. I’m left there pumping my applicator trying to get every square inch of the bottle after a few uses. That’s not the case with the Hourglass concealer. There’s so much product + it won’t dry up which is why I can justify the $36 price point. It’s creamy + gives the right amount of coverage for my undereye without creasing.

Gold Jewelry

I use to be a silver girl. And while I still love it, I’ve transitioned to gold. I think it looks better on my olive skin tone + makes the gold just pop. Some of my favorite + affordable brands have been Mejuri, Banks Jewelry and ALV Jewels.

Ankle Socks

This may be basic but a good sock is hard to come by, ok? I’m a big sneaker girl these days so my sock drawer has been full. These ankle socks are perfect for everyday + sit nicely on your ankle without slipping down or cutting off your circulation. My favorites are linked here!

Sambas Adidas

I’ve been loving my Adidas OG Sambas shoes this summer. I don’t know where the switch happened but I somehow have more sneakers than sandals this year. I just love the juxtaposition of a cute girly outfit paired with my Sambas shoes. It’s just a perfect combination in my opinion!

Maxi Skirts

Maxi skirts are a great transition between summer and fall. You can dress them up or down but I prefer dressing them down for a casual OOTD. My favorite place to find maxi skirts are at the thrift store. The more quirky, the better too. It can really make a statement!

Wayfair Rug

We’ve recently been updating our bedroom and we got a new bedroom rug that I just LOVE. It’s the perfect size for our bedroom and has a buttery softness you look for in a bedroom rug. Our house tones are very earthy and this rug perfectly captures the tones to tie it all together!

World Market mirror

Adding to the updates of our bedroom, we added a dresser mirror! This beautiful arch with black trim can be found at World Market and is currently on sale!

THe Summer I turned Pretty

I was resistive on watching this show for some weird reason but after hearing from multiple friends that they loved it, I decided to give it a go. One of the main reasons I love it is because of the MUSIC. It just gives me this cozy feeling. It’s one of those shows that’s so easy to watch and yes, maybe a little cheesy but it gives you a nice feeling inside. P.S. Unpopular opinion but I’m actually team Stephen + Taylor!

Taylor Swift

I was lucky enough to see T-Swift on tour this year + holy crap, it was SO. DARN. GOOD. I understand the hype around her shows now because it was such an experience. I haven’t stopped listening to her since the show.
