Denver Dining Review: Glo Noodle House

I’m a big fan of noods.

All kinds. Like pho, spaghetti, pad thai and ramen…especially ramen. And we recently discovered a great spot where we can get our fix - Glo Noodle House. This tucked away gem is located in the Highlands in Denver and is owned by a husband & wife duo.

To set the scene, Brady & I came in on a Saturday night right when they opened at 4pm. We sat at the chef’s counter to get a piece of the kitchen action. We were also the first people to arrive so we witnessed the staff wrapping up their daily stand-up which was fun to see since we both worked in the hospitality industry.

Happy hour happens everyday from 4-6 so we ordered drinks to start. I got the Still Walking which is your standard gin & tonic with a burst of lime. Brady ordered one of their rotating IPAs. Then we got to the FOOOD. For apps, we ordered the crispy brussel sprouts which were drizzled with a decadent Japanese BBQ sauce and also ordered 3 of their skewers; a chicken skin, a wagyu tsukune, and a shrimp. They were all amazing & I’m still craving more of those brussels.

For the main course, we consulted the main chef/owner, Chris Tiegland, who told us the most popular noodle dish on the menu is the Deathwish. Which has a chili-pork broth, with confit bacon, onsen egg, narutomaki, green onion, bean sprouts, chili flakes, black garlic oil, chili oil, crispy shallot. Typically, Brady & I both order two different things to split but we both wanted our own bowl of the Deathwish and it’s a good thing we each got our own because we slurped every last spicy bit of it. Our waiter also highly recommended the Prime Rib Shoyu and the Chilled Spicy Noodles which we’ll have to indulge in next time!

As far as the vibe of the restaurant, it reminded me of a Japanese nightclub (not that I’ve ever been to one but it’s what I would envision it would be like). The music was eclectic and the decor was funky. The bathroom even had an arcade machine as the sink & Pokemon characters surrounding the walls. It brought me back to being a little kid.

Overall, my rating of this restaurant is 5 out of 5 stars. The food is delicious, the staff is both knowledgeable and attentive and the vibe is just right. We’ll definitely be back.

Love + light,

Cris
